The images Peter Stearns exhibits on his Web site represent more than twenty joyous years of photographing Mendocino County and its wildflowers. Peter says, "My wife Robbie and I have lived in Ukiah for nearly fifty years; I thought it was time to show other people the beautiful area where we live, in the hope that they'll come to visit." Stearns was born in New York City in 1928. In the introduction to his book, "A Journey in Time: Mendocino County Wildflowers", he refers to the summers he spent as a young boy in the Adirondack Mountains of upper New York State. "It was in those mountains and on those lakes that I learned to see the beauty in nature."
Peter has devoted his time to fine-art color photography and to the book on Mendocino County entitled "A Journey in Time - Mendocino County Wildflowers" since 1982. The book A Journey In Time was published in October 2003. The second printing is now available. "If we're good stewards and careful with the environment, we might be able to save it. My hope is that the message and photographs in "A Journey in Time" will reach the many people who have yet to open their eyes to the beauty that surrounds us each and every day."
