"After a rain the foothills are damp, and the smell of the earth mingles with the pungent odor of the Oaks and Pepperwoods. Hiking the side hill forests is a color treat, as the red- orange hue of the Oak and Madrone leaves scatters in the wind, back-lit by the November light. The coastal headlands and prairies have returned to a winter sleep, ending the great flower display for another year."
